A new discovery of Myself!

What did you discovered about Life TODAY?
A: I discovered the Teacher in me! I always loved giving advices and helping people out of their problems. But, never in my dreams did I think of seriously teaching anyone. As someone had said, "Better Late than Never". So here goes ...

The Teacher in Me!!

To know what inspired me to take up teaching as a part-time hobby, let's have a look at my family background -
  • My father was a high school teacher of Chemistry in the early stages of his career.
  • My mother has done B.Ed and was also a school teacher.
  • My brother has been responsible for conducting training sessions in an IT company.
So, as you see, its only natural for me to have a keen interest in this line. But, since I am a code freak, hence I decided to give it a shot as a part-time hobby.

Some of my students tell me, that I often get so involved into explaining things, that I often end up giving them knowledge even outside their syllabus! Its probably because of one lesson that I learned from one of my professors, "I will know less, but no-one will be able to contest against me in what I know."

1 more reason for taking up teaching seriously, is that it questions my ability on the subject or topic that I am teaching. I believe that if i am not able to prove myself to me, then I got no right to teach anyone. Moreover, teaching gives you a unique insight on the topic, as you start asking questions which you yourself overlooked
as a student.

These days, I find myself evolving and having an inside urge to learn. Its amazing how my perspective to studies has changed. Let's see what I stand to gain from this experience!

The Nuclear Deal Alternative

All hell went loose when U.S.A. proposed the nuclear deal to India. Reason - In India, a few view it as infringement of their rights by Uncle Sam, and outside India, it is being seen as the rise of a joint power that can single handedly capture the entire world.

I don't know 'bout the outside world, but in India it is a common knowledge that most of us cry foul over petty matters without even giving it a "rethink". So much so, that we even tend to ignore the benefits that lie in store for us. The Nuclear deal would certainly be a great help to this energy starved nation, a nation, which most experts predict is going to be the next super power. In the event that India progresses to be a super power, where would it get the huge energy required to maintain itself? Isn't it inevitable that India resort to such means now or later to cater to the demands, which will, most definitely, be on the rising side.

But, as I just said we never give it a rethink! I am surprised to notice that even today the use of alternative energy in our blessed country is by and far a very rare sight. This beautiful nation has all it needs to support its energy needs itself.

Don't believe me? Gulp this :

The Thar Desert is more than 200,000 sq. Km in area. The annual Global radiation varies from 1600 to 2200 kWh/sq. m . Now taking an average of 2000 kWh/sq. m, the annual radiation received by the Thar desert alone is a whopping : 400 Trillion kWh. With the highest efficiency of 30% at present at Sandia National Laboratories, the power output would be annually : 120 Trillion kWh. Well, this only shows what the thar desert alone can produce if used completely.

Now, India has an area of : 3,287,590 sq. Km. Now if 10% of it is covered ie. an area of 328,759 sq. Km. then you can very well see that it can completely cover its energy demands by itself !!

So much for the controversial nuclear deal. But so little for what we already have and ready to harness. I hope that the Indian Govt. realizes this soon enough to cure the ever rising demand of energy.

The Forgery of the Brain

http://www.dhushara.com/book/brainp/brainil/brainil.htm

The campaigners of US Presidential candidate Mr. Barack Obama have a hard job on their hands. They have started a movement to revert the misinformation spread by some mischief mongers who have apparently declared that Mr. Barack is a Muslim. While they might
think that its jusy a matter of time that their efforts to change that bear fruit, neuro science has a suprise for them.

While, the first statement they issue would probably be : Mr. Barack Obama is NOT a muslim. But, here lies the catch. The more one tries to state that a fact is wrong by saying it is not, he
unknowingly streses it and the brain, instead of making us forget the wrong fact, makes the belief in it more strong.

As neuroscientists have found out, the brain doesnt store away information in the permanent storage or long time storage at one go. It does so in two steps. The first one being the area for temporary storage. Here, the information is stored along with the source of the information. But, gradually as time passes this information about the source slowly goes out of the system. What remains behind is the fact without the source of information which gets stored in the permanent
storage area of the brain. So, by stating that Mr. Barack is NOT a muslim we may better state the fact that he is a christian. The sole reason being that as time passes, the majority would forget about the source from which the information came and hence its credibility would vanish too.

Thus, the information received from an uncredible source further strenthened by the credible sources' unacceptability of the fact, makes the false fact prominent and the uncredible source is
forgotten.Hence, it is much better to state the fact in a more structured and positive way - "Mr. Barack Obama is a Christian" , would have a more lasting effect than the former statement.

Well, its better to be POSITIVE and our brain certainly wants us to.
